Day 2: 30 March |
KATHMANDU |
| Arrive in Kathmandu, where we are met and transferred to our central hotel. |
| Full day tour to the ancient squares of Patan, and the most holy of Hindu Temples in Nepal, Pashupatinath. We then continue on to Bodnath, the impressive Buddhist Stupa near Kathmandu, and Swayambanuth, the stupa high above Kathmandu. (B) |
| Fly this morning to Pokhara, gateway to the mighty Annapurnas. Transfer to our lakeside hotel. Afternoon drive to the valley rim for a trek to a sensational lookout for views of the Himalayas and the lake. (B) |
| Morning drive through the Nepal countryside to the Chitwan Wildlife Park. We then transfer to our island resort for lunch and an afternoon of jungle trekking and game spotting aboard elephants. This afternoon, there is a chance to bathe with the elephants. Dinner with a special traditional performance of local dancers. (B, L, D) |
| Morning elephant ride and jungle walk/canoe for a second day to see wildlife. After lunch, drive to Bharatpur to connect with flight back to Kathmandu. Bhutan (land only) Travellers join us. (B, L) |
| Time for last minute shopping in central Kathmandu before the transfer to the airport for the spectacular flight to Paro, Bhutan. Arrive Paro (Bhutan). After clearing customs and visa control, we meet our guide. We then drive to Paro to check into our hotel. Afternoon visit to the impressive Rinpung Dzong and the National Museum housed inside Ta Dzong (Watchtower). Dinner at our hotel set amongst silver pines, with a magnificent view of the central Dzong (Fortress). (B, D) |

After breakfast, we drive to Shari, from where we can hike or horse ride to Taktshang (Tiger's Nest) Monastery, the most photographed in Bhutan. The view is well worth the steep trek up a wide mountain path. After lunch, we drive back to the hotel, visiting central Paro and Kyi Chu Dzong one of Bhutan's oldest temples on the way. (B, L, D) |

After breakfast, we drive to Thimphu, the charming capital. After lunch, we visit some notable sites including a nunnery, the National Memorial, the Library, the Arts and Crafts School, and the Traditional Medical Institute. (B, L, D) |
| This morning we drive to the wildlife reserve of Mothitang to see Bhutan's national animal, the Takin We then travel to Punakha, driving through Dochu La (Pass) (3,140m). We have great views here of the Himalayas. Here we also visit the ancient capital Punakha and the Punakha Dzong in its impressive river setting. We then descend to our Wangdue hotel for dinner and overnight. (B, L, D) |
| After breakfast, we drive to Gangtey, on the flanks of the Black Mountains. We then enter the Valley of Phobjikha one of the most beautiful in the Himalayas. We have a short trek here before returning to Wangdue for dinner and overnight. (B, L, D) |
| This morning, we do some sightseeing in Wangdue before driving back to Thimphu via the Dochola Pass. Afternoon free in Thimphu. Dinner at hotel. (B, L, D) |
| After breakfast, we drive to the Forbidden Valley of Haa (closed to outsiders until 2002). This valley is situated in the south-eastern slopes of the Himalayas and borders Tibet. Here we visit some ancient sites before returning to Paro via the Chele La (Pass) (3,810 m). We have magnificent views from here. Dinner and overnight at our hotel. (B, L, D) |

Day 14: 11 April |
KATHMANDU |
| An early breakfast is served at our hotel before we drive to the Paro Airport. Fly from here to Kathmandu. Transfer to hotel. Free afternoon for resting, shopping or sightseeing. (B) |

IN-FLIGHT |
| After breakfast, transfer to the airport for flight home. (B) |

Day 16: 13 April |
