DAY 1: Monday 13 August |
SAIGON |

On arrival in Saigon we are met at the airport and transferred to our central hotel located in the heart of Saigon. This evening we will enjoy a Welcome Dinner. (D) |
This morning enjoy a day tour with sights including the Post Office, Notre Dame Cathedral, built by the French in 1877, former Presidential Palace, War Remnants Museum, Cholon, The Free World Building and the former "Canberra” Hotel. Vietnam is a shopper's paradise and this afternoon our tour will terminate at the famous Ben Thanh Market. (B) |

DAY 3: Wednesday 15 |
VUNG TAU |
This morning we journey south by hydrofoil to Vung Tau. After booking into our hotel we will explore this seaside resort and visit the White Villa, the former area known as "Flags” , the magnificent beach located across the road from where the Peter Badcoe Club once stood and the VC Memorial located where 1 ALSG once was. After lunch you are free to laze by the pool, or continue your sightseeing. (B, L) |

DAY 4: Thursday 16 |
VUNG TAU |

After visiting the fishing village along the sea front, we travel northeast to the township of Baria, afterwards, visit the township of Dat do and the Memorial dedicated to Vo Thi Sau the young Vietnamese revolutionary executed by the French in 1952. Then proceed to the Long Hais and former Minh Dam Secret Zone. A boxed picnic lunch is provided today. We return to Vung Tau mid-afternoon. (B, L) |

DAY 5: Friday 17 |

After breakfast we travel north to Nui Dat passing by what remains of the Horseshoe on the way. Whilst few remnants remain of the former Task Force Base, we will have time to explore the area and visit the local school which is situated at the end of what was once Luscombe Airstrip. Today we will enjoy a picnic lunch at the Long Phuoc Tunnels before we make our way back to Vung Tau. (B, L) |

DAY 6: Saturday 18 |

This morning is at leisure and this afternoon we travel to the Long Tan service. It will have special meaning to us this year with it being the 40th Anniversary since the withdrawal of our troops from the war. (B) |

This morning we make our way back to Saigon via the village of Binh Ba. As this is your last day in Saigon, this afternoon is at leisure for shopping, sightseeing, relaxing or maybe a massage! (B) |

This morning we travel northwest to Cu Chi to visit the former underground VC village. After watching a video filmed by the Vietnamese during the American war, we will view and explore the widened tourist tunnel systems. Those who are fit and daring might like to crawl along one of the original tunnels. You then have the opportunity to visit the firing range where you will be given a choice of weapons to fire, including the M60 and AK47. We will enjoy lunch alongside the picturesque river and return to Saigon early afternoon. (B, L) |

After breakfast we will take a scenic drive south to the Mekong Delta and Ben Tre. On arrival we board a private boat and travel the tributaries to visit one of the more spectacular Islands. After watching coconut candy being made we will explore the Island on a horse drawn cart. We will stop for refreshments and then board an oared Sampan and travel along the peaceful canals under the shadows of the water coconut trees. Lunch is at a lovely restaurant, before making the return journey to Saigon. (B, L) |

DAY 10: Wednesday 22 |
HOI AN |
|
This morning we board our flight north to Danang. We are met at the airport and drive the short distance south to the former trading port of Hoi An, which still retains the feel of centuries past. After checking into our hotel we will take a walking tour along the narrow streets and cross the 400 year old Japanese covered bridge and visit ancient houses, galleries and a silk tailor shop. Hoi An is a great place to have clothes made. This evening you might like to dine out in one of the many river side restaurants. (B) |
Today is a day at leisure for you to relax and explore more of the old town. You may like us to arrange a cooking class for you! (B) |

This morning we drive north to Danang, to visit the unique Marble Mountains. You may like to make the climb to the top and enter Huyen Khong cave. You will be rewarded with magnificent views inside the Cave and of Danang, the surrounding mountains and China beach. Those unable to make the climb can visit a marble factory to learn how the statues are made and watch the workers create various wares. Those who decide to climb the Mountain will also have the opportunity to visit a marble factory. Next we visit China Beach and the Cham museum with its artefacts dating from the 7th to the 15th centuries. We will cross the stunning Hai Van Pass, stopping at Lang Co beach for lunch and continue on to the former ancient capital Hue. (B, L) |

This morning we will visit the Citadel and Imperial Enclosure, and the Forbidden City. We will also see a Royal culture show. Later we board a Dragon boat for our return cruise along the scenic Perfume River. We then board our bus to visit the Thien Mu Pagoda and the tomb of Minh Mang, which is built around two lakes. (B) |

This morning we transfer to the airport for our flight to Hanoi. After checking into our hotel we transfer to Hoan Kiem Lake (Lake of the Restored Sword) to board a Cyclo for a fun ride around the outskirts of the Old Quarter. Hanoi's lively Old Quarter comprises 36 streets packed with shops selling all kinds of goods, each street named for its primary products sold and where for centuries peddlers have traded their wares. The remainder of your day is at leisure in this historic city with its blend of French, Chinese and Vietnamese architecture. This evening we will attend the popular Water Puppet show. (B) |

This morning we tour the city and visit several landmarks, including the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, the former Presidential Palace, the modest stilt house of President Ho Chi Minh, One Pillar Pagoda, the Army Museum and former POW Prison "the Hanoi Hilton”. The remainder of the day is at leisure to relax or continue your sightseeing. (B) |

DAY 16: Tuesday 28 |
HALONG BAY |
|
After breakfast we depart for Halong City and on arrival board our traditional junk boat for an overnight stay on Halong Bay. We will cruise amongst the rocky limestone Islands and disembark to visit the Thien Cung Cave, one of the more spectacular grottoes. Bring your swimming gear as the boat will anchor in the calm waters of this scenic wonderland allowing you to swim in safety and privacy. (B, L, D) |

After disembarking from the boat we board the bus for the return journey to Hanoi, stopping en route for a refreshment stop. After checking into our hotel, this afternoon is at leisure to complete any last minute shopping. This evening enjoy a Farewell Dinner. (B, L, D) |

DAY 18: Thursday 30 |

Today marks the end of a very memorable tour and we are transferred to the airport for our flight home. (B) |
